PROJECT DATA
- This project involves the restoration and expansion of the
Travis Mansion.
- The 11,000-square-foot existing mansion is expanded to 27,000
square feet with a two-story, steel-framed addition to the south
and east.
- Both buildings house museum exhibits, however, the expansion is
a more traditional museum environment while the existing building
will retain the look of a residence. Sections of the museum are
intended for receptions, weddings and other events.
- The renovation of the existing mansion includes a museum
quality central heating and air conditioning system, kitchen
upgrades and removal of add-ons to the original 1920
structure.
- Several existing features of the mansion will be retained
including the hard wood floors, the fireplaces, and the paneled
library with its hard-cast plaster ceiling.
- Skylights and outdoor patios give the expansion an open feel
while creating an exterior compatible to the mansion's
architectural style. This project is the recipient Associated
Builders and Contractors of Oklahoma Excellence in Construction
Award in 2008
