PROJECT DATA
- The Stanton L. Young Biomedical Research Center is the latest
addition to the growing University of Oklahoma Health Sciences
Center campus in Oklahoma City.
- This long-awaited project is providing much-needed space for
the University's expanding biomedical research programs.
- Phase I of the 120,000-square- foot facility consists of
laboratories, lab support space, offices and a seminar room.
- Extensive casework, equipment, and highly sophisticated
biohazard safety hoods were installed throughout the building.
- Phase II is a 125,000-square-foot, four-story structure with a
full basement/vivarium
- The facility includes a 24,000-square-foot Bio Safety Level 3
(BSL) laboratory.
- The first floor consists of an 18,000-square-foot BSL2 Core Lab
with a 6,000-square-foot mechanical room while the second, third
and fourth floors consist of 24 individual BSL2 laboratories
totaling 72,000 square feet.
- The roof level/penthouse is an 18,000-square-foot area that
houses the exhaust system for the entire building.
- The project completed five months ahead of schedule while
incorporating more than $2 million in owner directed changes to the
original scope.
