Groundbreaking Ceremony Marks the Commencement of Oklahoma National Guard Wellness Center

Oklahoma City, OK – Flintco, Larson Design Group, and the Oklahoma Military Department (OMD) gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of the state-of-the-art Wellness Center facility which will enhance the well-being and support services for National Guard members and their families across the State of Oklahoma.

Being a National Guard member requires a commitment to give 100% of yourself to the State of Oklahoma and the United States in times of need. The Oklahoma Army and Air National Guard Headquarters and its leaders sought to provide a space that is equipped to help Guard members focus on individual readiness with a holistic approach.

The new 32,000-square-foot Wellness Center integrates physical fitness and support services in one facility. The physical fitness area features a spacious gym with diverse equipment, physical therapy facilities, and PT Counseling for physical and digestive health. The support services section houses programs including Behavioral Health, Chaplain services, Equal Employment Opportunity, Family Programs, Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F), Integrated Primary Prevention, Resilience, Suicide Prevention, Substance Abuse Prevention, and Victim Advocate services. The Wellness Center offers conference rooms, offices, meditation spaces, a coffee bar, and a non-denominational chapel. Four classrooms and a demo kitchen help attendees create culinary meals for their families and provide educational opportunities. This comprehensive approach brings together various aspects of health and wellness, creating a centralized hub for personal well-being and community support.

Reflecting on the commencement of this transformative project, Flintco’s Project Manager Grady Whiteneck said, “We are honored to be a partner in bringing this essential facility to life for our soldiers and their families. The Oklahoma National Guard Wellness Center prioritizes the holistic well-being of our community heroes and embodies our commitment to excellence and safety.”

At the core of the OMD’s vision for this transformative project lies the goal to construct a top-tier facility that not only exudes warmth and hospitality but also integrates highly functional, intricately detailed building components that embody the principles of WELL Building concepts for both employees and those who come to use the facility. The WELL Building philosophy leverages scientific and psychological principles to enhance environments that impact human health and well-being. Flintco and Larson Design Group are dedicated to exceeding expectations by combining state-of-the-art construction techniques, innovative design concepts, and an understanding of the unique needs of military personnel to provide an outstanding facility experience.

The collaborative design-build effort between Flintco and Larson Design Group to bring OMD’s vision to life demonstrates unwavering dedication to excellence, safety, and the well-being of the courageous individuals who safeguard and uphold our freedoms.
