Civic Center Music Hall Facility Improvements

The Freede Little Theatre, located at the Civic Center Music Hall in Oklahoma City, underwent an extensive renovation. Housing an original rigging system from the 1930s, the space lacked infrastructure to host modern-day events and performances. The project entailed a comprehensive restoration and renovation of the entire theatre, which involved recreating the historic ceiling and constructing a two-story extension. Upgrades included curtains, motors, and a truss in front of the stage for all lighting, along with infrastructure to house new equipment. A catwalk was built in an adjacent area to make the above-ceiling space usable to house the mechanical and electrical penthouse. New seating was also installed. To enhance the VIP lobby, a replica of the east lobby’s ceiling was integrated, and the glass partitions were reconstructed. The existing box office was relocated, and the removal of the lobby glass walls facilitated improved traffic flow. The new two-story addition features dressing rooms, five bars, and a kitchen to support the theatre as a stand-alone venue.
