Montopolis Recreation & Community Center

Construction of a new 2-story recreation and community center. The new 33,141 SF building was built in the area previously occupied by the old center’s parking lot, so the old community center could stay operational for as long as possible, leaving only a small window of time between the demolishing of the old center and opening of the new one. The features of this building include a basketball gym with a second story walking track, dance studio, boxing ring area, and administrative offices for a majority of the City of Austin’s Parks and Recreation staff.

The project was recognized by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) – Central Texas Chapter and received the 2020 Excellence in Construction Merit Award for the $10 to $25 million Institutional category.
