Flintco Breaks Ground on the University of Memphis Fogelman College of Business & Economics Renovation

Mar 04 2026

Memphis, TN — Flintco, in partnership with the University of Memphis, 4FDesign, and William Blackstock Architects, has commenced construction on Phase 1 of the $30 million Fogelman College of Business & Economics (FCBE) renovation project. The milestone was commemorated with a celebratory “wall breaking” ceremony — a symbolic start to transforming the existing facility into a dynamic, future-focused learning environment.

Phase I includes a comprehensive renovation of the current FCBE buildings located at the corner of Central Avenue and Patterson Street, modernizing classrooms, collaboration areas, and faculty spaces to better support today’s business students and tomorrow’s leaders.

“These buildings represent our commitment to the mission of this University and our College,” said FCBE Dean Robert Garrett. “All of this helps build a community of learning that will bring faculty, staff, and students together in ways that build knowledge and contribute to society.”

Flintco approaches the project with its “All in. Always.” mindset — a reflection of the company’s commitment to safety, quality, and partnership.

“For 40 years, Flintco has proudly called Memphis home, and our partnership with the University of Memphis has been an important part of that story,” said Danny Moeschle, Flintco Vice President and Area Manager. “We are honored to continue building on that legacy through projects that strengthen this campus and invest in the future of our community. This renovation reflects our long-standing commitment to the University of Memphis and to the students who will one day lead it.”

The FCBE renovation continues a significant period of campus investment for the University, following the recent openings of the Edwards Research and Innovation Center, built by Flintco, and the Scheidt Family Performing Arts Center.

Phase II of the FCBE project will introduce a third building to the college campus at a future date, further expanding capacity and reinforcing the University’s long-term vision for excellence. Together, these efforts emphasize a shared commitment to strengthening higher education infrastructure and driving economic impact across the Memphis region.
