Flintco 4 LIFE Construction Safety
Construction safety is how we lead.
Every person who steps onto a Flintco jobsite deserves to go home the same way they arrived. Families are waiting, friends are counting on us, and our commitment to safety is how we honor that responsibility.

What our record shows.
The industry average Experience Modifier Rate (EMR) is 1.0. Ours is 0.52, meaning our teams work in environments roughly twice as safe as the national average. We’re proud of that number not for what it is, but for what it proves—when we plan well, look out for each other, and refuse shortcuts, everyone goes home safe.

We go beyond compliance.
We don’t just meet OSHA standards, we exceed them through continuous training, smart technology, and teamwork. Flintco 4 LIFE—Live Incident Free Everyday—is how we work, lead, and look out for one another. We call it “the 4 R’s”:

One shortcut changed everything.
Before joining Flintco, HSE Regional Director Shane Harris, CHST, PSC, was seriously injured while working as an electrician. He suffered severe burns and spent weeks in a medically induced coma. In The Shortcut—A Story of Survival, Shane shares his experience and why safety must always come first.
INdustry impact
And changing how safety is taught.
The Shortcut started as a Flintco onboarding video and has grown into a teaching tool across the industry. Safety programs and schools, including the Construction Industry Training Council (CITC), now use it to remind future builders to speak up and never take a shortcut when someone’s safety is on the line.

What safety looks like here.
Safety shows up in the small moments. Our Health, Safety, Environment team is consistently recognized as supportive and helpful, achieving a 100% satisfaction rating by all employees.
Here’s what that means on a Flintco jobsite.
Stretch and flex.
Every morning, we take time to warm up muscles and prevent injuries before work begins.
Safety walks.
Leaders walk jobsites daily, rewarding safe choices, and redirecting unsafe ones.
Weekly safety calls.
Every week, we bring our teams and trade partners together to talk openly about safety. What went right, what needs attention, and how we can all do better.
Positive safety notices.
We celebrate safe decisions every day, because recognizing good choices builds lasting habits.

Technology that brings people together.
SmartTagIt from FactorLab is changing how crews plan and communicate. The app uses AI to capture and translate pre-work conversations in any language, so every voice is heard. By turning pre-work planning into an open dialogue, teams spot risks sooner, identify potential challenges and prevent them from happening, and create safer, more productive jobsites.
Recognized, but never done.

Safety includes mental health.
We know safety isn’t just physical—it’s emotional. We’re breaking the silence around mental health through suicide prevention training, peer support, and wellness programs that help every person feel seen and supported.
