Tim Wallin, HSE Regional Director for Flintco’s Memphis operations, has been named a Top 3 Finalist for National Safety Person of the Year by the Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC).
A respected safety leader in the Memphis construction community, Tim has built his reputation not through policy alone, but through presence. He is known for working side by side with team members, listening to their concerns, and finding safer, smarter solutions before risks become injuries.
“Tim is deserving of this recognition because he lives out the ‘safety and quality are paramount’ part of Flintco’s Ethos,” said Vice President and Area Manager Danny Moeschle. “In addition to being well-respected within Flintco, he has earned the respect of the trade partner community andthe construction community, because he demonstrates the value he places on the safety of every person on every jobsite.”
Tim’s approach to safety is rooted in culture as much as compliance. He has been instrumental in rolling out the Flintco 4 LIFE (Live Incident Free Everyday) program — a cultural initiative focused on personal accountability, hazard recognition, and empowering every employee to speak up and take corrective action. He also champions proactive tools such as SmartTagIt and Flintco’s Stuff That Will Kill You (STKY) program, both designed to shift safety conversations from paperwork to genuine engagement.
His reach extends well beyond Flintco’s own workforce. Tim has volunteered his time teaching at ABC-organized events, traveled to trade partners’ offices to help elevate their safety standards, and brought in outside mental health professionals — including a state mental health administrator and an in-house psychologist — to lead suicide prevention training for workers across the industry.
“Tim has spent countless hours with people on jobsites helping them think through a better solution before taking unnecessary risks,” Moeschle added. “Tim is a true leader, and his leadership reaches well beyond Flintco and Memphis.”
Tim’s nomination reflects a career grounded in the belief that a strong safety culture is built collectively, beginning with one person and one conversation at a time.At Flintco, his leadership has helped shift safety from a compliance-driven requirement to a shared responsibility. In an industry facing a shortage of skilled, safety-trained workers, his commitment to education, relationship-building, and hands-on mentorship is driving meaningful impact that reaches far beyond any single project or company.
