South Dakota Female Correctional Facility

Flintco, in partnership with Scull Construction (CM/GC), delivered a new minimum and medium Level III women’s prison on a 20-acre site for the South Dakota Department of Corrections. The 288-bed facility includes six buildings: two minimum and one medium security housing units, a programs and services building, and administration and support structures. Foundations utilize over 700 rammed aggregate piers and shallow spread footings, while structures combine precast insulated walls, steel joist and deck, and pre-engineered metal buildings. Stand-alone MEP systems support each building, and the secured campus features nearly 4,700 LF of perimeter fencing.
