The Modern Austin Residences Tops Off

Austin, Texas, July 30, 2024 – The Modern Austin Residences, a dynamic addition to the Rainey Street district, has reached a key milestone with the completion of its concrete structure, signifying progress in bringing the 56-story residential tower to life.

The topping out ceremony, a longstanding construction tradition, was held to celebrate the hard work and achievements of all involved in the project. Team members from Flintco, Urbanspace, Page Architects, and trade partners on the project signed the final steel beam commemorating their contributions before it was raised, along with a tree and American flag, and placed at the highest point of the building.

The high-rise tower features 299 market-rate residences and a much-needed offering of 21 affordable housing units. The project is a testament to Austin’s growing need for diverse housing solutions, fostering a balanced community within the city’s urban core.

“We believe in shaping our communities with purpose, and The Modern Austin Residences is no exception,” said Scott Tomhave, Vice President at Flintco. “This project will offer a diverse blend of housing options, including affordable units, making it possible for more people to call this thriving neighborhood home. Working alongside Page and Urbanspace to complete our third tower has been a true partnership.”

The Modern Austin Residences will bring an elevated lifestyle surrounded by culture, entertainment, cuisine, and nature. The project includes enhancements throughout the vibrant district with expanded sidewalks, improved parklands, street trees, and bike lanes.

“Flintco and Urbanspace share a strong commitment to innovation, quality, and construction excellence, which has made a seamless partnership. Being a part of building the dynamic essence of the Rainey Street district together has been an exciting experience,” said Flintco Project Director, Chris Moyes.

The team is led by Chris Moyes, recipient of the Building + Construction Network 40 Under 40 class of 2023. Through his leadership, Flintco continues to demonstrate its commitment to excellence, integrity, and safety through projects like 44 East Ave and The Modern Austin Residences, further contributing to the urban evolution of Austin.
