1908–1918
Revelers watch the first Times Square “ball drop” to usher in the New Year, and Ford introduces the Model T. The same year, Flintco began operations as Tulsa Rig, Reel, and Manufacturing Company (TRR), a major supplier of drilling and pumping equipment for the burgeoning oil industry.

1919–1928
As the Treaty of Versailles brings World War I to an end, C.W. Flint takes full ownership of TRR and expands operations to include oil field lumber yards and the building of derricks.

1929–1938
The Works Progress Administration (WPA) under FDR’s New Deal helped get America back on track, while Tulsa Rig, Reel, and Manufacturing Company (TRR) put oil field camp experience to good use in the construction of Army bases and airfields for the U.S. government.

1939–1948
WWII fighter pilot Chuck Yeager breaks the sound barrier introducing a new era of flight. TRR acquires a commercial construction company to further augment its building capabilities. TRR would change its name to Flintco in 1972 while remaining a Flint family company.

1949–1958

1959–1968
The Beatles invade the U.S. with an appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. The company continues to grow steadily, continuing to expand its work outside Oklahoma into Kansas.

1969–1978
Neil Armstrong becomes the first man on the moon, and Flintco, Inc. continues to diversify its portfolio of work, including award-winning high-rise office and retail projects.

1979–1988
The first PC ignites the computer revolution, while Flintco expands its reach, establishing Oakridge as an “open shop” sister company that provides self-perform capabilities. The company celebrates the opening of offices in Oklahoma City and Memphis to better serve clients across the region. The 21-story Mid-Continent Tower in Tulsa is completed with 80,000 custom pieces of terra cotta cast as a “twin” to match the 16-story version built in 1917.

1989–1998
The World Wide Web transforms global connectivity while Flintco expands its footprint by opening an office in Springdale, Arkansas. The company honors its Cherokee heritage with its first Native American project—the Redbird Smith Health Center—launching a proud tradition of service to more than 77 Indian Nations across the country. Flintco began working with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, a relationship that has continued for more than 30 years.

1999–2008
The turn of the century sparks unfounded Y2K fears as the world braces for a technological collapse that never comes. Flintco acquires Eby Construction’s Austin office, establishing a foothold in the Texas Capital City. The housing bubble bursts, signaling the start of the Great Recession, and Flintco reaches a remarkable milestone—celebrating 100 years of resilient growth. Flintco celebrates the opening of the 18,000-seat BOK Center arena, a joint venture designed by acclaimed international architect César Pelli, and completes the first of three major renovations for the Boone Pickens Stadium at Oklahoma State University, triggering a run of stadium work for Flintco.

2009
The Dow falls to 6,500, with the recession hitting bottom. Flintco successfully navigates the crisis by relying on its financial stability and operational resilience, which serve as a testament to its enduring legacy and adaptability.

2010
The Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded for groundbreaking experiments regarding the two-dimensional material graphene—a single-atom-thick sheet of carbon—using Scotch tape to peel layers from graphite, revealing its unique electrical, strength, and conductivity properties. The ultra-strong, ultra-thin material advances water filtration, batteries, solar cells, and biosensors. Flintco is named the top Native-American-owned general contractor in the U.S.

2011
Facebook and Smartphones connect 500 million people. IBM’s Watson artificial intelligence program makes history by defeating top human contestants on Jeopardy! Flintco is recognized for its exemplary safety record by Associated Builders & Contractors and receives similar recognition from the Associated General Contractors.

2012
U.S. Swimmer Michael Phelps became the most decorated Olympian of all time at the London Games, bringing his total medal count to 22; he would go on to win a record 28 medals, including 23 gold. The Devon Tower opens in Oklahoma City as the tallest building in the state, built under a Flintco joint venture. Flintco joins four other Tulsa contractors and the local ABC chapter in delivering a no-cost headquarters to the Folds of Honor organization, which provides scholarships to the children and spouses of fallen and disabled veterans.

2013
The word “selfie” becomes Oxford Dictionary’s word of the year. Alberici acquires Flintco (both companies are debt-free), setting the stage for expanded geographic reach and enhanced client services for both companies. Flintco breaks ground on the Seaholm Residences—the first of several high-rise multi-family towers built by Flintco that help transform the Austin skyline.

2014
The U.S. economy is recovering, with American businesses setting a record for the most consecutive months of job growth. Flintco conceives and writes its Ethos during a team-building retreat with retired Navy SEALs of Acumen Performance Group (APG).

2015
NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft achieved humanity’s first close flyby of Pluto. More advancements in tech have arrived, including autonomous drones and next-generation robotics. Flintco Austin completes the four-story, 265,000 SF Paul L. Foster Campus of Business and Innovation for Baylor University, and a Flintco team in Memphis breaks ground on the 450-room Guest House at Graceland, just steps away from the mansion where Elvis Presley, the King of rock ‘n’ roll, held court.

2016
Pokemon Go has become a global phenomenon. Flintco opens its Houston office after two years of providing services to MD Anderson. The company finds a new way to apply Lean manufacturing practices to the construction industry, calling it Lean2.0 while announcing the creation of the Construction Support Services Department (CSS). The two-year enhanced leadership training program called “Pillars” welcomes its first cohort of Flintco leaders.

2017
A total solar eclipse crosses the United States for the first time in 99 years while the Oscars deliver a shocking Best Picture mix-up. Flintco rolls out a new safety initiative called Flintco 4 LIFE, opens an office in Denver, unveils its first major logo update in 50 years, and rebrands the Building Information Modeling (BIM) team as the Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) group under Construction Support Services.

2018
Flintco pilots Type II safety helmets—a significant advancement over traditional hard hats due to its design complete with secure chin strap and face shield. Black Panther becomes the first superhero film to earn $1 billion. Flintco completes the 285,000 SF interior renovation for the Service Master Global Headquarters in Memphis, breaks ground on the MAPS 3 Convention Center in Oklahoma City, and documents measurable results from two years of Lean2.0 implementation.

2019
Notre Dame Cathedral’s 850-year-old spire collapsed in a devastating fire; Team USA won the Women’s World Cup in France. Flintco releases a refreshed corporate website, opens a full-service office in San Antonio, breaks ground on the flagship George H.W. Bush State Office Building on the Capitol Mall in Austin, and is selected by the City of Tulsa as the construction manager to replace the historic Gilcrease Museum.

2020
The year was heavily defined by the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to global social and economic disruption. Flintco responds with characteristic resiliency and releases a bilingual safety video for job sites called the “5 Pillars of COVID” and adopts new technologies like the interactive photo documentation application StructionSite, providing real-time video walkthroughs and side-by-side comparisons of active jobsites that kept partners and team members working remotely up to date. Flintco relocates its office in Tulsa after more than 100 years in the same location to a modern downtown headquarters across from ONEOK Field, positioning the company for sustained long term growth.

2021
Car and electronics prices skyrocket due to the lack of semiconductors, caused by new pandemic restrictions. Flintco completes the Vanguard Academy of Broken Arrow in Tulsa, which supports future workforce development, and begins work on the Phase 2 expansion at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art out of the Arkansas office.

2022
Artificial intelligence erupts into public consciousness with ChatGPT. Queen Elizabeth II dies at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Ten Flintco volunteers travel to the East-Central African Village of Giseke with Fika, formerly known as Bridges to Prosperity, to help complete the 86-meter Mucyabahinja Suspension Bridge. Flintco Renewable Energy begins pursuing utility-scale solar projects. The Oklahoma City office moves to the historic Automobile Alley District, with office moves also happening in Houston and Memphis, which is named a “Best Places to Work” by the local Business Journal.

2023
The films Barbie and Oppenheimer open, creating the cultural phenomenon “Barbenheimer.” The “large-language models” driving AI are reportedly 10 times more advanced than the first public iteration. Flintco introduces SmartTagIt for pre-task planning, a new AI-driven application using cell phone video that boosts team engagement, and improves safety outcomes while delivering authentic and genuine preplanning conversations. The company begins pursuing work with Korean owners, receives the prestigious National Safety Pinnacle Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), is awarded the expansion of the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, and releases its first Flintco Talks podcast with retired Navy SEALs.

The Kansas City Chiefs repeat as Super Bowl champions, and Team USA dominates at the Paris Olympics with 40 gold medals and 126 overall medals. Flintco earns a consecutive Pinnacle Safety Award from ABC, demonstrating sustained excellence in safety leadership.

2025
Building on the success of its first Fika (formerly Bridges to Prosperity) project in 2022 and a strong partnership in 2024, Flintco and Alberici once again field a combined team to complete the two-week build of the Bizenga Trail Bridge. Alberici and Flintco expand services through an investment in LCG Capital Management, and Flintco earns a consecutive National Pinnacle Safety Award, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to safety leadership.

2026
As artificial intelligence becomes embedded in everyday life and global industry, Flintco reaches two defining milestones—75 years of building in Arkansas and 40 years since opening its Memphis office. Generations of projects in both markets reflect the enduring relationships and steady partnerships that have driven the company’s growth across the Mid-South.
