Socorro County Adult Detention Center

Socorro, NM

A large, modern detention center stands against a bright sky with scattered clouds. The building is surrounded by a rocky landscape, evoking a sense of isolation.

PROJECT DETAILS

Socorro County Adult Detention Center

Socorro County Detention Center replaces an outdated downtown facility with a 21,000 SF building designed for safety, efficiency, and flexibility. Housing up to 108 inmates in eight pods, the “super pod” layout creates a central observation core to streamline supervision. Six pods are monitored indirectly from a control room, while two direct-supervision dormitories support trustee housing. A rear service chase design keeps utilities and plumbing secure, while the plan improves staff efficiency, safety, and operational costs.
