Union Public Schools Ellen Ochoa Elementary
Ellen Ochoa Elementary is in one of the fastest growing areas of the Tulsa district. This school has a uniquely child-centered energy-efficient design, some features include STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) “maker spaces” for hands-on, project based learning; expandable learning areas; outdoor classrooms; and playgrounds designed with exercise and fitness in mind. Phase I finished in 2017 in time for the new school year, the first half of the building, bringing 500 kindergarten through fifth grade into the new school. Phase III completed the building in 2019, with the final 500 students moving in. This serves to address growth in the north-central part of the district and free up space in other elementary schools.
