Flintco’s Phillip Gunderson Named AGC Oklahoma Project Manager of the Year

Project Manager Phillip Gunderson was named 2025 Project Manager of the Year by the Associated General Contractors of Oklahoma (AGC Oklahoma) — an honor that recognizes superior skill, leadership, and creativity in delivering complex projects.
“When you first meet somebody, you get a gut feeling,” said Flintco President Dave Kollmann. “I had that with Phillip.”
Phillip’s most recent signature project, the City of Edmond City Hall and Parking Garage, illustrates exactly why the recognition fits. When the project encountered a significant budget challenge early in design, Phillip worked directly with the City of Edmond and REES Associates to lead a disciplined value and design management process that brought the project back within budget—without compromising quality or function. Throughout construction, he also coordinated closely with city officials to keep adjacent streets accessible during community events—parades, runs, and public gatherings—so city life never skipped a beat.
“He knows the job inside and out, and by doing that, it instills trust with the owner that gets repeat work and builds strong relationships,” said BJ Miller, Flintco Senior Superintendent.
That trust extends to how Phillip leads people. Vice President and Area Manager Kirk Mammen said it’s Phillip’s humility that stands out most. “When a job is successful, he’s the first to point to his teammates and give them the credit.”
It’s a quality that has made him a natural mentor within Flintco. “He really taught me everything I know now,” said Flintco Project Manager Ethan Treisa, who worked alongside Gunderson early in his career. “A lot of those lessons have carried over into the success I’ve had in my own role.”
Phillip has been trusted with some of Flintco’s most deadline driven and complex projects, including renovations at the University of Oklahoma football stadium—where deadlines were fixed and field conditions often different from the drawings. “That first football game does not get postponed,” said Herb Humphrey, Vice President of Operations at Daniel Electric. “He understands that, and he delivers. Very calm, very steady—he listens more than he speaks, and that’s a great leadership quality.”
Beyond the jobsite, Phillip invests in his community and his own growth. He completed the Leadership Edmond program during one of the busiest stretches of his career and volunteered with Flintco’s Fika (formerly Bridges to Prosperity) program—traveling to Rwanda to help build a pedestrian bridge connecting isolated communities to schools, medical care, and economic opportunity.
Phillip’s leadership style is rooted in consistency, trust, and showing up every day to deliver for clients, teammates, and the communities Flintco serves.
