The University of Tennessee Health Sciences College of Medicine Interdisciplinary Building Groundbreaking
Oct 15 2026

Flintco joined the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), brg3s, and HOK to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new College of Medicine Interdisciplinary Building in Memphis. The $350 million project represents the largest state-funded higher education capital investment in Tennessee history and will help expand the state’s capacity to educate future health care professionals.
Located at the corner of Madison Avenue and Dudley Street, the 300,000 SF facility is a key part of UTHSC’s plan to modernize its campus, replacing outdated College of Medicine buildings with flexible, technology-rich spaces designed to support evolving teaching methods and greater collaboration among health care disciplines.
The investment comes as Tennessee faces a growing physician shortage, particularly in rural communities. The new building will support UTHSC’s plans to increase its incoming Doctor of Medicine class from 175 to 250 students annually and double enrollment in its Physician Assistant program from 30 to 60 students per cohort. Bringing students from multiple health care disciplines together will also create opportunities for collaborative learning that reflects how professionals work together in clinical settings.
Identified in UTHSC’s 2020 Campus Master Plan Update, the project has undergone extensive planning and programming to align the facility with the university’s long-term academic goals.
“Our relationship with UTHSC is built on a shared commitment to creating environments that support education and serve the community,” said Danny Moeschle, Flintco VP/Area Manager. “This project represents an important investment in the university’s future, and we’re proud to work alongside UTHSC and our design partners to deliver a facility that will serve students, faculty, and future health care professionals for decades to come.”
The project continues Flintco’s established relationship with UTHSC and brings together Flintco, brg3s, and HOK to deliver a facility that supports the university’s continued growth.
