Brennen Knerr Wins Prestigious ABC Safety Award for Exemplary Leadership

Flintco Superintendent Brennen Knerr has been awarded the ABC Rocky Mountain Region Field Professional award in recognition of his outstanding commitment to workplace safety and innovative project management. With nine years of industry experience, including six years at Flintco’s Denver office, Knerr has established himself as a leader who consistently prioritizes safety without compromising project efficiency.

Currently heading the BAE Systems FM Kathabar Replacement Project, Knerr’s track record speaks volumes: zero injuries and zero unplanned disruptions across six different BAE Systems projects over the past three years. This remarkable achievement underscores his dedication to maintaining the highest safety standards in challenging work environments.

A recent BAE Systems Vibrations Laboratory Expansion project incident highlighted Knerr’s unwavering commitment to safety. When faced with the complex task of installing a 30-ton roof crane simultaneously with overhead MEP work, Knerr refused to follow a potentially dangerous suggestion that would have saved time but compromised safety. Instead, drawing on Flintco’s 4 Rs principle – Raise your voice, Reach out, Recognize the hazard, and Do it Right – he developed an alternative plan to stagger the work across different shifts, ensuring timeline compliance and worker safety.

Knerr’s innovative problem-solving abilities were further demonstrated during the FM Kathabar project, where he tackled the challenge of cutting concrete in a penthouse without risking water or dust contamination to a clean room below. Rather than settling for conventional solutions, he researched and implemented a specialized concrete demo saw with HEPA vacuum attachments, effectively protecting the facility and crew from potential hazards.
